Wanna know something about the Cedar Cross? I don’t use a cell-phone, (true story), but you can contact me at bobjenkins@team-virtus.com

Jim is signed up at #3. I will take spot 50. Happy Training. I see you are signed up for Kanza, twice.
That’s cuz I’m gonna do 2 laps
You can add Dan Dougan and Tyler Supertramp Cordia to the list.
Hi! I tried e-mailing you via the above link and was told it was invalid…I’m very interested in volunteering to help at the race, before the race, whatever you need. I don’t (really) ride but I love watching Cross! If you need helpers, you can e-mail me at bentonnicoya@gmail. (I’m in Rolla, by the way.)
Nicoya,
For some reason I cant send you an email either? Weird.
Anyhow, I will DEFINITELY add your name to the list of volunteers. Thanks in advance for your help. I seriously never expected this race to be so popular,so I need all the help I can get.
I’m really hoping to squeak the money together to get volunteers some cool shirts or something, but we’ll have to see how that all works out.
Thanks again, I’m sure there will be plenty of work/fun for us on raceday. It’s gonna be so damn AWESOME!!
Do you have any thoughts as to the “optimal” tire setup?
Like some of your pictured riders, I ride a Specialized Tricross Comp. My gravel setup consists of 37mm tires and fenders. With the singletrack involved and having not ridden that area, would I better off to mount a ~42-50mm tire and ditch the fenders? I don’t want to find myself in really soft terrain and sinking, yet, I don’t want to be lugging around any more tire than I have too. Thanks.
I’d say it’s going to depend a lot on the weather leading up to the race. If we get a lot of rain, be ready for some mud. I run a 700×45 Specialized Borough on the front and something a bit smaller on the back. (I’m also a fatass). My reccomendation would be to take your cross bike out to your local trail and do some experimenting with different tires. This course will be primarily gravel, so also keep that in mind when you’re picking your gear.
If it’s too muddy, we’ll do a different course that doesnt use the singletrack. I don’t wanna be responsible for 100+ riders rutting out a trail I’m trying to restore.
Also remember that this is the first time this course will be raced..noone really knows what that “perfect” setup is yet. That’s part of the adventure.
Tellya what I could do…if anyone wants to email me a photo of their monstercross rig and why they set it up that way, I could out them into a thread for people to compare. Send em to bobjenkins@team-virtus.com and we’ll make it happen.
Yeah, I thought I saw some big rubber on a Tricross. Must’ve been yours. I’ll give it some serious consideration, as we get closer. Not ready to commit to the event, just yet. Thanks.
that was a 29×2.00 mtb tire on my tricross. Just seeing how big I could go.
You can add me to the list. Great job on all the hard work you’ve done I’m excited to be a part!!
You can add me to the list of volunteers. I can do anything that needs to be done. I have a pickup with a bike rack.
Jon Alewel /690-8369/ alewelpj2@embarqmail.com . I am also working the CCAR the day before.
EXCELLENT!! I’m working on a list of volunteer jobs as we speak.
Hey Boob!!
Will there be a downloadable GPS to load onto a Garmin?
You know it. I’ll be posting the mapmyride.com link in about a week.
last time I was looking for a gps course on mapmyride, that feature was yet to be added. joined mapmyride because I was lead to believe it would be available, then as I clickety clicked on the proper tab, a little messaged popped up saying, “comin soon” or “feature not yet available”. I cancelled my MMR account immediately. garmin connect is very friendly in this manner. but that would require someone pre-riding the course. I think. dirt bike pre-ride maybe?
One way or another I’ll make sure it’s very difficult to get lost on the course. Cue sheets, MMR links, volunteers, course tape, naked ladies holding signs, etc.
Trust me.
Will the drop bags be hauled back to the finish line by chance, or should they be disposable drop bags? I’m considering using a very small cooler and packing some decent grub but will reconsider if we have to retrieve our own drop bags. It will be all I can do to get in the car and drive home after this event. Thanks for all your efforts to produce this event. Sounds like fun.
It’d make things a lot easier if they were disposable, but we’ll do the best we can to get everyone’s crap back to the start/finish line.
Just know that I can’t/won’t be responsible if someone’s stuff comes up missing.
I will not make this year have alot of fun! John Welsh
Bummer, man. See you in 2013!!
